Marc has more than 25 years of mainly international HR experience in for profit organizations. The last 15 years of his career he headed up the HR function for EMEA working for high paced, often US owned multinational companies active in the IT, telecom and DC industry.  He combines operational experience as well as executive responsibilities in the full spectrum of Human Resources Management including organizational development, talent management, succession planning, compensation and benefits, performance management, merger & acquisitions, internal communications, learning and development, etc.  Marc has worked in high growth environments as well as leading major restructurings, near and offshoring projects and divestments.  He has a broad, multi cultural and very international background which enables him to quickly assess complex organizational people issues and address these with a well balanced and often creative new approach. Marc works in Dutch and English.


Professional Background

Marc started his career after his secondary education and military service at the Ministry for Social Affairs and Employment. Here he got solid training in employment law, labour market mechanics, recruitment, etc.  After 5 years he joined TPS Unimecs, an international industrial staffing firm as their recruitment manager for Belgium.  When Unimecs decides to centralise their Benelux activities out of the Netherlands Marc decided to continue to support the Belgian market via his own consultancy firm for a few more years.  In ‘93 he joins the Walibi group as HR director for Bellewaerde park in Ieper.  In ‘96 he is approached again by Unimecs to join their The Hague office for which he moves to the Netherlands where he will stay for the following 15 years and in ‘97 Marc becomes the HR Manager EMEA for Sylvan Learning Systems based out of Utrecht. In 2000 Sylvan decides to pull out of Europe and at that time Marc gets the opportunity to join KPNQwest in Amsterdam as their VP HR for all Sales and Marketing staff across Europe.  In 2002, right before KPNQwest is about to go bankrupt Marc joins Network Appliance as their HR Director for EMEA also based out of Amsterdam. In 2005 he then becomes the HR and Facilities director for ACN Europe and in 2009 he is appointed as the VP HR for Interxion after having spend 1,5 year in Poland.  Since 2011 he works as an independent consultant. Some of his most recent assignments include advising management boards and entrepreneurs on HR strategy, M&A integration, labour relations and Talent Management.  Marc has joined the LDI as independent HR consultant in 2012.

Notable Achievements

- Supported the introduction by Sylvan Learning Systems and Kidum of the first fully online (asyncronous) Master in Information Technology program in collaboration with the University of Liverpool including the acquisition of the first classes of working adult students and setting up the backoffice support structure in the Netherlands.

- Acquired and successfully implemented a virtual classroom environment (Centra) to deliver all new product training to the KPNQwest sales force across Europe in 15 different countries resulting in huge savings on travel and time.

- Introduced and co-facilitated the Network Appliance (US) leadership program “Leading @ Netapp” in Europe with multi country roll-out and appropriate localisation and customisation.

- Opening a new office in Poland for ACN Europe (50 employees) as part of their geographic expansion and near shoring including finding and securing the appropriate location, hiring and training all staff, defining and implementing local c&b structure, etc...

- Creation and implementation of a new and comprehensive learning and development plan including a very successful management development program for junior and first time managers for ACN Europe in Amsterdam including the introduction of a management assessment program.

- Succesfully led many small and large scale change programs including major restructurings, downsizings and office closures but also startups, rapid growth and international expansion projects.

- OPQ certified assessor: Certified to use and interpret the Ocupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ) from SHL
